Happy Fourth! We didn’t have much plans for the fourth, and we were aching to do something. We were invited to join our neighbors at Detroit Lake with their family for their annual celebration. We were seriously considering it, until our friends Jason and Anna Fumasi said they were going to be in town for the fourth, and asked us to join them. Well, more specifically, Anna and her family at their Lake House. Jason drove in first and we took him to lunch before he headed out to his family’s place further South. Anna showed up later, as she had to work. We met her at Dutch Bros. and followed her to Detroit Lake where her family own a home right on the lake.
They close the road by 5pm to vehicles so people can watch the
fireworks in the road without being run over. However, since we showed up way after five, they wouldn’t allow us down the road (where their house is) till her mom came up and confirmed that they did live on the road. When we were finally allowed to pass, I had to drive very carefully not to run anyone over as the road was practically blocked on both sides of people who had no interest in moving out of the way of my wheels. We watched the fireworks from their driveway and had fun. We hung out all night and spend the night on their futon. The following day we went out on their boat twice. Anna drove us out on the Lake where we had lunch/snack the first time. Just before we let Anna's dog jump out of the boat for a swim (she loves the water) we saw a kid on a cliff side getting ready to jump into the water and a family in a boat watching him. We got closer and saw that they were our neighbors! So, we got to see them after all. The second time we went out, Anna wanted to water board. We had a lot of fun hanging out with our friend and her family.
